‘New Kid On The Block’ – Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player Congratulate Collin Morikawa on Open Championship Victory

Collin Morikawa enjoyed a historic win at The Open Championship 2021. He was scintillating throughout the event and finally laid his hands on the Claret Jug. This is Morikawa’s second major victory, as his first win came in 2020 at the PGA Championship.

The 24-year-old scored 66 on Sunday and finished with a score of -15 for the tournament. He won the championship with a two-stroke lead over Jordan Spieth. And with this victory, he has created and matched many records. The American golfer received support not just from the fans but also from legends like Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player.

The two legends of the game Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player tweeted a post congratulating Morikawa for his amazing victory at the 2021 Open Championship. 

Firstly, Jack shared a tweet saying. “It looks like we’ve got a new kid on the block! What an impressive day of golf—and tournament!—by Collin Morikawa. He continues to play well, play better, and show he is here to stay. My, what solid golf and great composure all day long at The Open.”

He continued, “Every time Collin Morikawa had an opportunity to make a mistake, boom, he made a big shot or putt. Some of the chips he executed were fantastic! I was very impressed with him. This is someone we are going to have the pleasure to watch a lot in the future.” 

He also wished Jordan Spieth and Louis Oosthuizen for their brilliant performance throughout the tournament. 

And finally, another legendary player from South Africa, Gary Player, congratulated Collin for his accomplishment. The tweet said, “Congratulations to Collin Morikawa on his first Claret Jug. What an accomplishment to win The Open in your debut and to keep other world-class players at bay in the final round. Collin continues to impress and is no doubt a superstar in the making. All my best, GP.”

Collin Morikawa is currently getting all the attention in the golfing world and deserves every bit of this praise. And the World No.3 has achieved so much in such a brief period and he is all set to be a future superstar.
