The 2021 Open Championship is currently underway at the Royal St. George’s Sandwich, Kent in England. Right now, around 40 to 45 players are under par on the leaderboard. While a few players are yet to finish their opening round, Louis Oosthuizen is at the top with a score of -6. Meanwhile, the 40-year-old Brandt Snedeker has made a promising start to his campaign. 

Currently, along with Oosthuizen, Jordan Spieth, and Brian Harman have had a great start as they remain five-under for the day with a score of 65. But it doesn’t take much time for things to change on this course. And there is plenty of action going around on the course currently.   

Brandt Snedeker makes a staggering eagle at the par-4 17th

Currently, T18, Brandt Snedeker scored an amazing eagle on the 426 yards par-4, 17th hole. He missed an ace by inches on the par-3 16 but made a brilliant eagle on the next hole. Brandt stood on the tee with a driver in his hand and smashed it to the left side of the undulating fairway. Following the drive, he then flushed his short iron, probably a 9-iron right beside the flagstick, and got the ball inside the hole to make the second eagle of the day. Previously Will Zalatoris made an amazing eagle on par-4, 12th.

This emphatic eagle got him down to two under for the day as he finished with a par on the last hole. Brandt had a decent round as he made three birdies, two bogeys, and an eagle to finish two under for the day.

Brandt’s approach game was impeccable as he leads the field in greens in regulation. His iron and wedge game rescued him from some tricky situations, but his struggles with the driver and putter were evident. 

Since Snedeker has had a decent start to his opening round, he will be hoping for the same or slightly better performance in the second round. But it is not going to be a straightforward thing as the course can change its color at any time. And it can become a daunting course within a blink of an eye.
