Why is the BMW PGW Championship special to Billy Horschel?

Speaking to the media, Horschel admitted that there are always some events every golfer wants to win. This usually means the Majors or maybe a few others. However, as American players, most golfers don’t lean towards an event on the European Tour.

“As an American, you know you don’t usually say a tournament on the European Tour. But to win the BMW PGA Championship would, for me, be equal to a Players Championship victory”. He went on to explain his journey, and how the course affects him.

He added that he fell in love with the golf course two years ago, something he was sure would happen to him. “The fans have been great to me, too. The support has been great this year. So to get that victory tomorrow, if it happens, would be tremendous”.

Additionally, Billy Horschel also spoke about Race to Dubai, which no American has won yet. He is placed fourth as per Race to Dubai standings as of now, his win at the WGC Match Play aiding him. He also finished T2 at the WGC Workday Championship.

“Knowing no American was won Race to Dubai, it would be cool to do that,” said Horschel. “Also, to say I was a Race to Dubai and FedExCup champion”. If he wins, he will be the second star to have won both the FedEx Cup and the Race to Dubai titles. Henrik Stenson is the other golfer to do so.
