Everton sporting director Marcel Brands has given new signing Moise Kean a memorable present to mark his €30m move from Juventus.

The Toffees officially announced Kean’s transfer arrival to Goodison Park on a five-year contract yesterday. During his presentation, Brands provided the 19-year old a personalized Everton jersey for his mother in what was an incredible gesture.

“Because I know one person is, I think maybe the most important person in your life. And I know a little bit about you – and I wanted to give this present to you. Your first shirt with ‘Mami’. It’s a present from us to Mami,” he said before handing over the shirt to Kean.

Then looking at Kean’s mom, Brands continued: “We will take care of your son. And I hope to see you often.”

Maurizio Sarri’s decision to let Moise Kean depart the club raised many eyebrows. The Italian forward, who made his Juventus debut at the age of 16, scored six goals in helping Juventus reclaim the Serie A trophy. And given his age, he is destined to become a world-class striker in the years to come.

Moving to England from his home country at such an early stage of his career is a bold move from Moise Kean. He could have easily spent the next few years as the understudy to some of world football’s biggest names like Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala. However, his determination to be a regular first-team starter with Everton in one of the toughest leagues in the world is a testament to his character.

The teenager was subjected to racial abuse during his time in Turin which is probably the reason why Marcel Brands assured the forward’s mom that they will take care of him at Everton.

Kean expressed his delight at joining Everton. “I am very proud and honoured to wear the Everton shirt – I will give my best to this team. I was convinced to sign because Everton is a club looking to the future and so am I,” he said.

The teenage sensation could make his Premier League debut as early as Saturday when Everton visit Crystal Palace in their season opener.
