The Game Awards 2022 was dominated by Sony as they received over 20 nominations in a variety of categories. Both Horizon Forbidden West and God of War Ragnarok were nominated for best direction and ‘Game of The Year’. With so many nominations in the past award show, it seems like fans have set a great bar of expectation from Sony in The Game Awards 2023. After the success of The Last of Us, it is no exaggeration to call Sony a pro in developing first-party games.

The standard of expectation took a positive turn when the former God of War director, Rafael Grassetti praised the efficiency of the creative developers at Sony for which he believes Sony deserves fair praise from Metacritic.

He commended the PlayStation technology considering the immersive gaming experience and technology it offers to the players. He talked about the hard work of the designers and developers of Sony Studios. He further adds that Sony always expects at least 90 on Metacritic from the studios. After this comment from the former God of War director, social media platforms have been flooded with comments where fans expressed their high expectations from Sony Studio.

Fans’ reactions

Fans are not surprised by Grassetti’s comments as they seemed pretty convinced by the hard work of the Sony Studio team. One content creator tweeted stating Rafael’s comments on Sony with the link to the interview. He added that Sony gives ample time to developers so they can come up with the best possible gaming experience- “Sony also doesn’t rush its studios and devs are free to ask for more time if needed .”

Some of the fans commented agreeing with Grassetti that they always expect high-standard games from Sony because of their extreme dedication- “This is why we see the huge quality of games from Sony over the years. Expectations are set high and that’s good IMO.”

Some of the fans were also seen as pretty negative stating that their last experience with Sony was not up to the mark- “Last of us part II was lowkey bad. 6/10”.
