Today, McLaren star Lando Norris took part in a series of racing challenges on the Codemasters F1 2019 game. The challenges included two celebrity races, one race with a young driver and the flagship event, racing against fans. Lando was involved in a comical pit lane fiasco which ruined his chances for a win in the F1 esports battle.

For the final flagship round, Norris was challenged to start in 14th place at Suzuka and win the race. Just as Ayrton Senna did in 1988 when he dropped from pole to P14. And had to fight his way back up to win the title.

In the final challenge as rain rocked the race in a virtual Suzuka, everyone went into the pits. Lando’s race engineers decided otherwise and they kept ongoing. After struggling for a couple of laps Lando went in to get a set of wet tires. However, the team had something else in mind, Lando was sent out with another set of slicks in the rain.

The Briton was struggling with the lack of grip and lost places. And after a few minor drifts, he returned to the pits for another change. This time he was able to get a pair of wet tires and was having a decent run before getting into a big crash and losing a couple of places. Lando wasn’t able to finish the tasks and had to settle for P14, the spot from where he started.
