The Alpine F1 team, formerly known as Renault, went through a major rebranding phase in 2020 under the ambitious Renaulution strategic plan. The team not only entered the 2021 season with a fresh label but there was also a hierarchical shift in management.

This was followed by another round of upper management layoffs. January 2022 saw team boss Marcin Budkowski leave after a fairly successful tenure. Moreover, Alain Prost also left his advisor role at the Alpine F1 team recently. Many believe this to be a political move in line with the major restructuring that Alpine CEO Laurent Rossi is doing. In a true sense, he stands at the helm of the team in the current scenario.

At a session at the beginning of 2021, Renault CEO Luca de Meo termed 2021-23 as the phase of resurrection. In his words, “It will be clearly about cost reduction, margin, and cash generation”. They staged the brand firmly on the F1 track with an intention of boosting their presence internationally and growing their sales.

Rossi wants the Alpine F1 team to compete for titles before 2025

The 2022 F1 season marks a major shift in Formula 1. With a major overhaul in the rules this season, fans are expecting a shift in the power dynamics on the grid.

In a recent interview reported by SoyMotor.com, Rossi made his ambitions crystal clear. He is ardent about taking the team to the top and can also make some bold calls as we saw in the last few months. He believes that Alpine has some advantages that other mid-field teams don’t. “We are a factory team! Unlike other mid-grid teams, we have this factor in our favor,” said the Frenchman.

Rossi is optimistic about winning consistently after this rule change in F1. He says the plan is to “win races and then win a championship between now and the end of 2024 or 2025 before these rules are renewed. everyone starts from scratch and works from the same base. The performance of the grid is restarted and I think we have all the necessary tools to achieve it.”
