The world of tennis doesn’t get much bigger than Wimbledon, and the world of Formula 1 doesn’t get any bigger than 7x champion Lewis Hamilton. And as it turns out, there is a certain A-lister who shares a huge affinity for both. Hannah Waddingham won all of our hearts through her amazing portrayal in the Apple TV+ show ‘Ted Lasso’. And her appearance at Wimbledon and the British Grand Prix respectively must have raised her stock even higher.

Hannah Waddingham rewrites the history books for Lewis Hamilton

The events of the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will always be a sore memory for Lewis Hamilton. However, Waddingham’s appearance during race day, just hours after attending Wimbledon, would’ve surely acted as solace enough as he stormed to a memorable podium finish at his home GP from 7th on the grid.

During a pre-race interview with David Coulthard and Mark Webber, Waddingham said as per Independent, “You know, I’ve waited a long time to be here. And I’m uh…Am I allowed to say that I’m very much looking forward to seeing Lewis Hamilton, 8-time champion!”

In the aftermath of Waddingham’s comments, Hamilton drove a race to live up to her expectations.

Hamilton delivers home GP masterclass

If there’s anyone on the current F1 grid who can come up clutch when it really matters, then it’s the Brit. During his home GP, the 7x champion started from 7th on the grid. Without the best machinery in the class, the Brit still stormed, albeit with the help of a lucky late Safety Car, to a history 14th podium at the British GP.

Hamilton reflected on his race by saying, “After I went down to P9 at the start, I honestly didn’t feel too good either. But I had some fun trying to come back through. So, hats off to the team for our strength in the race day. I didn’t expect to be on the podium. So this is mega to be able to share with these guys,”?as quoted by Sky Sports F1.
