Don’t Need an Experienced Teammate at Red Bull in 2021: Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen is no doubt a world-class driver. After Daniel Ricciardo left Red Bull, no one has been able to match up to the Dutch driver’s impeccable performance behind the wheel. Compared to Max Verstappen, Alex Albon’s performance in the 2020 season has not been up to Red Bull’s expectations.
Helmut Marko explained last week that if Albon continues to develop as a driver and improve his performance, he will be their driver for 2021.
Max Verstappen was reported stating that due to the big margin of difference between Red Bull and Mercedes, it does not matter who his teammate will be.

Speaking about a new teammate, he clarified, “I can fine-tune the car for myself, but especially at the moment, we’re not good enough to compete in the championship, so it doesn’t really matter.”
He further added, “If you are close to Mercedes where you can do some things with strategy, it is nice to have a second driver there. But that is not an issue at the moment.”
It was put to Verstappen that a teammate such as Sergio Perez or Nico Hulkenberg would provide a great experience to the team. To this Verstappen replied, “I don’t need anyone for that.”
He further explained that he has been in Formula 1 for 5-6 years now. He explained, “I did [need an experienced team-mate] when I entered Formula 1.
“You don’t know so many things and you haven’t tried so much, you don’t have so much experience”, he further added.
“Worst Race Yet For Red Bull” – Palmer Hammers Alex Albon Over Portuguese GP Performance
Alex Albon’s struggle alongside Max Verstappen
Alex Albon replaced Pierre Gasly in Red Bull mid-season in 2019. An impressed Red Bull offered Albon a seat for the 2020 season. But the 2020 season for Alex Albon has been really difficult.
In 2020 so far, Albon has secured only one podium. He is often seen fighting to be in points during the same races where his teammate fights for podium finishes.
