The way things ended for Lewis Hamilton in Abu Dhabi last year must have left a permanent scar on his heart. He was on his way to a record-breaking 8th world championship, before Michael Masi decided otherwise. His controversial call to call-in the Safety car in the final lap allowed Max Verstappen to clinch his maiden title.

Lewis Hamilton opens up about his experience and how he’s dealt with the heartbreak. Furthermore, with the controversy surrounding Red Bull for their apparent breach of the budget cap would not have made it easier on the Mercedes driver.

In a recent interview with Motorsport.com, Hamilton revealed how “soul-crushing” the feeling was after the final lap in Abu Dhabi. Lewis said“What really was breaking was to just believe that the sport would do something like that, that that would happen in the sport, given that there are so many people who you rely on, You expect that the job would be done right.

He further added, “If you can lose a championship through wrongdoing within an organization, that was the thing that I wondered [about]. But I spent time with my family and that was really the best part of the healing really. I just gave all of my time to the kids, & just being present with them.”

Lewis has endured a difficult season so far. He’ll now shift his focus to the upcoming Mexican GP after a decent outing in the US Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton makes a surprise admission about driving

Considering he’s one of the greatest drivers to race in F1, one would expect Lewis to love driving. However, Lewis Hamilton explains how he does not like driving, unless he’s “going fast”. Lewis appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel show after the US Grand Prix on Sunday.

When asked if he drove himself to the show, Lewis replied, “I didn’t, I don’t like to drive. No. People always ask me. I actually don’t really like driving unless I’m going fast.”

Furthermore, Jimmy asked him if he makes people nervous by sitting on the passenger seat, Lewis had a good response ready. He said, “I’m honestly the best passenger”. Hamilton also talks about his dad. He said, “He loves cars and he loves driving. Um, but for me, I’d rather just hand the keys to my friends or something like that.”
