Gasly had a strong 2021 F1 season with the Red Bull sister team. He finished 9th in the drivers’ standings, behind the four best constructors, in a season dominated by his former teammate Max Verstappen. Meanwhile, his teammate Yuki Tsunoda also managed to put up some impressive performances as the season went through.
Pierre Gasly hopes to fight at the front
After his failed stint with Red Bull in 2019, the team relegated him back to Toro Rosso mid-season. Since then, the Frenchman has brushed up his skills significantly. Now, Gasly, a regular entrant in the top 10, is expected to lead the team to newer heights in 2022. The 2022 F1 season marks a shift in the sport’s era, and all the teams want to make the most out of these latest regulations.

The 26-year-old said, “I hope this is a year when I can fight at the very front, to finish regularly in the top five and even higher if the car is good enough. The team are quite pleased with the work they have done.”

“Aesthetically (the rules are) a big change. It also makes the cars heavier and affects the way they drive, and I think it adds yet another element and challenge on top of all the other changes to the cars,” Gasly added.
His contract with the team will end at the end of the 2022 season. Though there is a strong chance of an extension of the contract, fans are surely hoping to see him in a car that can match his skills.
