Kevin Magnussen Relieved to Move Out of F1 Following an Unexciting Career of Struggles

Kevin Magnussen recently bid adieu to Haas and Formula 1 entirely, as his team opted for an all-rookie line up for the 2021 season. The Danish racer, however, managed to find himself a drive in the Weathertech Sportscar Championship in 2021. He will be racing for the Chip Ganassi Racing team.
Following the switch to sportscar racing, the Danish racer, apparently, heaved a sigh of relief that he could finally rekindle the hopes of fighting for race wins.

The former Haas driver revealed that his excitement for racing in F1 took a drastic hit as even getting into the top 10 became a herculean task.
“Everyone wants to get to Formula 1, including myself,” he said. “That’s what I’ve always dreamt of. But after a while, if you can’t win races, even scoring points isn’t so exciting. With Haas, we’ve done that quite a lot. Recently, not so much. But even getting into the top 10 becomes old. That’s not a true target if you’re a real winner. That is not going to satisfy you.”

The past two years for Magnussen have been all about struggles in Haas. The team had plenty of issues with tire degradation, as he was forced to pit multiple times, leaving him lurking way down the pack. 2020 turned out to be even worse for Magnussen, as his team failed to receive a competitive engine from Ferrari.
This led to Haas fighting with the bottom-field teams. Hence, despite losing out his seat at Haas, Magnussen would be relieved with the fact that he can finally aim for the top step in the lower racing series.

The 1-time podium finisher spent four long seasons with Haas. Hence, he revealed that he will miss the crew, and obviously the car they had built for him.
“I don’t feel sad about Abu Dhabi being my last Formula 1 race. I’m going to miss driving the cars, and especially I’m going to miss the guys in the team,” he said.

At the moment, Magnussen’s career in racing looks quite settled. Moreover, the fact that he will carry the tag of ‘former F1 driver’ will definitely make him distinct amid heavy competitions. Now, a new journey is all set to begin for the Danish racer.
