Lewis Hamilton needs to perform his best day in day out, and in order to that, he needs someone to help overcome certain obstacles. Hence, the seven-time world champion works with Angela Cullen, who is his trainer and more important a best friend.

Cullen is with Hamilton every step of the way during a Grand Prix, helping him recover after the race, keeping track of his diet, and motivating him through his rough days.

Lewis Hamilton talks about his trainer, Angela Cullen, and how he needs her

Being asked by Corriere Della Serra, about Cullen’s role in his life, Hamilton replied, “Riders generally have a trainer, I had one too until I realized I didn’t need her. I needed someone who would support me through the ups and downs, who would make my life as simple as possible.”

He added, “She performs a lot of functions: she is a natural physiotherapist, if I have a problem in my neck she solves it. She follows me on my diet, makes sure She drinks enough fluids throughout the day.” 

“She cares about everything so that I only have to think about driving. And then She is a sunny person, She transmits positive energy. She is one of my best friends, I’m lucky to have her by my side,” Hamilton concluded. (Translated from Italian via Google)

How is Lewis’s season so far?

The Mercedes driver has won three out of the six races so far this season. However, he wasn’t able to score maximum points in Monaco and Baku, where he finished seventh and fifteenth, respectively. Hence, the Knight finds himself in second place behind title rival, Max Verstappen.

However, Hamilton has faith in himself and aims to bounce back in the seventh round of the championship that takes place in France in the upcoming weekend. And with Angela Cullen on his team,  Hamilton is more confident that he can take the fight to Dutch and claim his eighth title.
