Mercedes and Red Bull F1 React to Valtteri Bottas and George Russell Changing Their Instagram Bios

George Russell had a rollercoaster race driving for Mercedes last weekend. He was hired as the replacement for Lewis Hamilton after he was ruled out of the Sakhir Grand Prix because of coronavirus.

Since the race, George Russell and Valtteri Bottas have tweaked their Instagram bio a little. Both the drivers have removed the name of the constructor they drive for.

Red Bull Racing took a sneak peek in their drivers’ Instagram profile to assure themselves whether their drivers are sporting Red Bull’s name on respective Instagram profiles.

Mercedes AMG, on the other hand, took a tit-for-tat approach and revamped their Instagram bio as well.

George Russell impressed in his debut race for Mercedes

George Russell had one chance to prove his worth as a future Mercedes driver. He put up a powerful race and impressed everyone watching the race. He qualified just a couple of milliseconds behind his teammate at P2.

Russell overtook Bottas for the lead during the starting lap of the race and maintained the lead until the Mercedes pit stop blunder. He later came out at P5 and performed an overtaking move on Bottas that will not be forgotten anytime soon.

George Russell was on medium and had the tire advantage, which he to its limit. He overtook Valtteri Bottas, Lance Stroll, and Esteban Ocon in a matter of minutes and climbed up from P5 to P2 after the Mercedes blunder.

Russell then started chasing down Sergio Perez in the Racing Point. However, an unfortunate left rear puncture had him fall back to the pit stop. He lost out on the first race win during his debut race for Mercedes.

Everyone was behind George Russell once he got out of the pit stop at P5 and started chasing down P1 position. Everyone suffered heartbreak when the Briton suffered a tire failure that took the win away from him.

He scored his first-ever points in Formula 1 and won the driver of the day award. However, he deserved a lot more. An official announcement is much awaited to find out whether Lewis will be back this weekend or Russell get another shot at a race win.
