Lewis Hamilton Tipped to Be Following NFL’s Greatest Quarterback Tom Brady’s Lead as 7x Champ Dives Deeper Into His Twilight Years

After Sebastian Vettel announced his retirement from F1, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso are the last two remaining drivers of F1’s iconic era. However, the 37-year-old looks far from done and is still one of the best drivers on the grid. Moreover, Toto Wolff has some advice for the Mercedes driver as he enters his twilight years.

Lewis, Michael Schumacher, and Tom Brady have one thing in common. The trio has won an unimaginable 7 major titles in their respective sports. While Lewis and Michael are often considered the GOATs of F1, Tom Brady enjoys a similar respect in American Football.

In light of this, Toto Wolff believes that Hamilton is following in the footsteps of the 45-year-old Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback. When asked on F1’s Beyond the Grid podcast if Lewis was getting involved more in the management side of the game, Wolff said, “I would say yes”.

The Austrian also compared Hamilton’s involvement in the company to the likes of Michael Schumacher and NFL legend Tom Brady.

He further continued, “Obviously there’s this involvement in developing the car and his presence in the factory. But I think, on the race weekends, he’s become such a senior figure. Maybe a little bit like Michael was back in the day or I think about Tom Brady in football teams that you become more than just a player or just a driver.”

What’s done is done for Lewis Hamilton as he looks forward to answering the critics back. He lost out the title in dramatic fashion last year, but Lewis isn’t sulking around that anymore. The Mercedes star refuses to let one moment define his career and wants to draw inspiration from that unfortunate night.

Hamilton told the AP, “I love this sport. I love racing. I would have definitely said at the end of last year that I lost a bit of the love for it, because as you know, it was difficult.”

He also mentioned, “But I just refuse to let that moment be a deciding factor in my life and my career. And I still feel fit and focused and there’s no stopping. You know? We want to get number eight.”

Lewis didn’t finish the final race in Abu Dhabi this year in what was a fitting summarization of his and Mercedes’ season. But knowing the champion that he is, the 7-time champion will not go down without a fight.
