Nikita Mazepin Lashes Out at Haas F1 in Recent Statement: “I Deserved More Support From the Team”

Nikita Mazepin has recently opened up about his former team Haas. The Russian driver stated that he’s more than upset with the American team as they breached the code of conduct. Nikita complained that he got to know about his termination from the press, not from his team.
Haas recently terminated their contract with Nikita Mazepin. The event was followed by the developments of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Mazepin joined the American team last year and had a multi-year contract with the team.

Talking about this with Polish journalist Cezary Gutowski, Nikita said, “First of all, I want to say that I understand that the world is not as it was two weeks ago. It is an extremely painful moment for both you and me. People who are not here see it from a different angle. We in Russia and Ukraine we see what happens on many other levels.”
Nikita Mazepin faced sanction despite FIA decision
The sporting world has quite been affected due to the European conflict. Global sports bodies all over the world called up to boycott all Russian and Belarusian athletes. FIA, however, chose not to do that as they’ve allowed Nikita to drive under a neutral flag.

The 23-year-old further went on to state, “I deserved more support from the team . There is no legal reason to terminate the contract. I was relieved to see that the FIA allowed us to start with neutral colors. I was hoping to drive. On February 15 everything changed and I lost the dream I worked for for 18 years.”
Despite FIA’s directives, Haas decided to terminate the Russian’s contract. Nikita expressed that the decision was unilateral, and he is upset due to the unfriendly behavior of the team.

Dmitry Mazepin’s son also conveyed that he didn’t receive any information from the team boss, Guenther Steiner. The man down under also went on to say that they were not on talking terms ever since Barcelona testing. All in all, the situation is far from ideal for the driver.
