After a shocking turn of events post the British GP—where Lewis Hamilton floated off to Ibiza with Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez, and Shakira went on a date with NBA star Jimmy Butler—Hamilton and Shakira’s fans started second-guessing all the rumors about them dating, especially after Shakira said that everything between her and Lewis was friendly. But a few days ago, a trusted source reignited (and probably confirmed) their romance, saying, “They’re inseparable. It’s definitely a hot summer romance.” With Formula 1’s summer break just around the corner, Lewis and Shakira might just take that vacation to the Caribbean and confirm their summer romance. 

While fans are eager to see their relationship blossom, Shakira is making the most of her time by bashing her ex-boyfriend, Gerard Pique, through her music. The Colombian pop star is set to release her new album, songs of which will go into the intricacies of her split with her long-term boyfriend, Pique. While fans are anticipating the album, they’ve gotten a sneak peek into what it would sound like courtesy of a few singles Shakira has released, the most popular of which is Copa Vacia which translates to “empty cup.”

The song, whose music video and promotions portrayed her as a mermaid, features singer Manuel Tirizo. The song is about her wanting to prolong her fight with Pique. According to sport.fr, the song says, “You are always so busy with your business. It would be nice, my love, if you could find some free time. Relax here on the couch and give me your attention. You don’t have to be a poet to whisper in my ear. The phone rings, but use your hand with me. I know you’re attractive, but I’m even more so.”

After almost 12 years of being together, Shakira initiated the breakup after allegations of cheating against Pique. But the split was tough for her, with Copa Vacia also saying, “I’ve been craving you for a while, and I don’t know why. I was left hungry and wanted to drink from an empty cup.” Now that Shakira has moved to the US, she’s starting over, and it seems like she’s chosen Lewis Hamilton to be alongside her. And it’s no doubt that Hamilton likes having her around as well because every time she attends a race, the Briton seems to have a good one.

The three-time Grammy winner made her first F1 appearance at the Miami GP this season, after which she accompanied Hamilton for a night out. Rumors about the two dating started then, and fans instantly wanted to see her back in the paddock. And she returned to it at the Spanish GP. With Lewis Hamilton not having the best seasons till then, it was like her presence brought out the best in him, and the Briton finished second. Their pattern of going out to party after the race continued in Barcelona, strengthening the rumors further.

And two weeks ago, Shakira flew to the UK to attend the British GP, Hamilton’s home race. While Mercedes wasn’t expecting much, Hamilton delivered a podium again. The common link between the two race weekends? Shakira. Fans quickly established the connection and instantly started calling the pop star Lewis’ lucky charm.
