Ricciardo, who took on the challenge in 2014, asked Red Bull team principal Christian Horner, fellow F1 driver Lewis Hamilton and UFC champion McGregor to take on the challenge. However, the fight specialist didn’t disappoint as he took on the challenge set by the current McLaren driver.
McGregor posted a photo of himself on Twitter with the caption, “I accept your #ALSIceBucketChallenge.” The Ice Bucket Challenge or ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is an activity of pouring water on a person’s head. It might be the same person or someone else’s head. Whoever takes the challenge will have to endure the cold ice being dumped from the bucket.
This trend went viral in 2014 to promote awareness against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The challenge was co-founded by Pat Quinn and Pete Frates. The two activists helped general over $220 million for the research on ALS.

The current McLaren driver once recalled how he saw the UFC star. During a fight in Vegas, the Australian saw McGregor’s mother attending her son’s fight. This made the Honey Badger recall and remember his mother while she was there watching Ricciardo’s race in F1.

The Australian driver further added, “There wasn’t much watching going on yeah I actually felt sure of it. It was an amazing event, like honestly, till this day, I think the best sporting event I’ve been to.”
