The Monaco GP was the second race in the first-ever F1 season in 1950. It has been a regular race on the calendar since 1955, except for the 2020 season. It is one of the most prestigious races and is even known as the crown jewel of F1.
Monaco is the F1’s Wimbledon for Christian Horner
The Red Bull team has a significant connection with Monaco. The Austrian constructor won their first-ever podium here, with David Coulthard finishing third in 2006. After the race team principal, Christian Horner, jumped into the Red Bull pool wearing just a cape. This was the start of the Austrian team’s iconic Monaco celebration.

He shared his thoughts on having Monaco on a longer-term, “If somebody came up with a circuit layout now. Let’s say you’re completely mad, but of course, you know it’s grown with the sport. It’s been here for, you know, more than 70 years and hopefully another 70 years to come.”
Red Bull duo wants Monaco GP for the future seasons
The Austrian constructors won the last two Monaco races, Verstappen in 2021 and Perez in 2022. And the Red Bull duo doesn’t want the historic race to lose its place. Last year’s Monaco winner shared his thoughts on this prestigious race, “I think Monaco is something very special.”
Right after, Sergio went on to say, “I think most especially in terms of atmosphere, in terms of vibe, and it’s pure Formula One.”

Checo further continued, “Monaco has done so much to the history of the sport. I think it’s just very different than the history Monaco has and the tradition and how special it is to come out on top in this race.”
As for Checo’s teammate, Verstappen won the race last season. The best part of winning the Monaco GP was “getting drunk after” for the Dutchman. He also talked about the importance of Monaco in F1, “Because of the historical value and just the incredible scenery and it deserves to be on the calendar.”
