Let’s take a look at the earnings of F1’s ‘next big name’, Max Verstappen. The Dutchman is currently in his 5th season with the Red Bull team. He is inching towards his first F1 world title with an 8-point lead over Lewis Hamilton.

The Red Bull star hails from a motorsports background. His father, Jos Verstappen is a former F1 driver who competed in other motorsports events as well. He won the 2008 24 hours Le Mans LMP2 drivers’ title. Max has an ongoing contract with Red Bull until 2023 which can extend further in all possibilities.

Verstappen ranks 27th in Forbes’ 2021 list of the world’s highest-paid athletes. According to reports, his earnings for this year amount to  $42.5 million. The 24-year-old sources his earnings mainly from salary and winnings, which amount to $41.5 million. He has earned $1 million from endorsements.

Verstappen is second only to Lewis Hamilton, who has estimated earnings of $82 million this year. The seven-time world champion has a base salary of $55 million and when combined with the on-track winnings, it shoots up to $70 million. The Briton earns handsomely from endorsements as well, which amounted to $12 million in 2021.

The Red Bull prodigy is close to winning his maiden world title which is bound to happen sooner than later. With F1 getting more popular than ever and with the changing business model, one can expect to see an exponential rise in the net worth of Max Verstappen.
