Slaying on the red carpet of the Met Gala 2023, Serena Williams made a big surprise announcement for her fans. Momma Smash revealed she was expecting her second child with husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Serena already has a daughter with Ohanian named Alexis Olympia, who was born in September 2017. As congratulations were in order, her good friend Lewis Hamilton sent his best wishes as well.

The Met Gala 2023 turned out to be a platform for announcing pregnancies, it seems. Before Williams, supermodel Karlie Kloss flaunted her baby bump as well. Coincidentally, this is Karlie’s second child as well.

Serena, dressed in an all-black Gucci gown, walked down the red carpet with Alexis, who too was sporting a Gucci tuxedo. The tennis queen, stunning in pearl necklaces, made the announcement while speaking with Vogue.

She told, “There’s three of us here.”

“I’m good, I’m feeling good now,” she added. “I can breathe, I can stop–not hiding, but.”

Williams then paid tribute to designer Karl Lagerfeld by joking, “Karl never disappointed with his designs, so we’re both just so happy to be here and get inside and not drink.”

Ohanian, quick in showing his support, said, “I’ll be partaking.”

Reacting to his good friend’s pregnancy on Instagram, Lewis, in a story, shared a picture of Williams. On it, he simply wrote, “many blessing @serenawilliams.”

Holding the utmost respect for each other, Hamilton and Williams have always backed each other. Just last year, after learning that no woman sportsperson made it to the 100 highest-paid athletes, Lewis slammed the entire sporting world to express his disappointment at not seeing Serena on it.

After his last championship win in 2020, Hamilton is tied with the great Michael Schumacher for 7 world championships. The 2020 season turned out to be a great one for the Briton and his team Mercedes as well. Witnessing his brilliance unfold on the track, Williams crowned him among the greats of the sport.

Speaking on the eve of the 2020 French Open, she told, “He is, for me, the greatest driver that our generation has seen. I’m confident that he will break the record of Michael Schumacher who was also a fabulous driver.”
