Greatness recognizes greatness. This quote by the great American literary critic, Harold Bloom, fits in perfectly whenever we hear F1 legend, Lewis Hamilton, speak about Tennis Superstar Serena Williams in such high regard. Both of them have dominated their respective sports. While the Brit has 7 F1 world titles to name, Serena Williams has 23.

However, their contribution outside of it has been equally noticeable. Time and time again, we have heard Lewis Hamilton talk about the lack of diversity in Formula 1. The Silver Arrows ace has had to ride out the storm to reach the pinnacle of motorsport.
Lewis Hamilton went on to become the first Black driver to win the world championship in F1 in 2008. Hamilton has gone on to rewrite the history books ever since. In addition to that, he is also shaping the future of F1 when it comes to diversity and inclusion. This has only been possible because of his elite mentality.
Another athlete who shares the same mentality as him is Serena Williams. Talking about her during an interview last year, Lewis said, “I think, I look at a lot of athletes out there, and there are so many similarities, and you know the respect is increased because you’re like, ah, I can only imagine how tough it is.”
“For example, Serena, one of the few Black women in Tennis. But, they are all going through our own struggles,” Lewis added.
In addition to this, Lewis Hamilton even paid tribute to this icon of tennis after she announced her retirement of late.
