Everyone knows Red Bull is crumbling and everyone is looking for how they can take advantage of the situation. One of the biggest targets of all teams in Red Bull is engineer Adrian Newey. In the race for who is the fastest, the engineer was first approached by Ferrari, and then Mercedes. Both offered him a hefty cheque with a third one incoming.

But now, there is a new team that is trying to get their hands on the mastermind behind the RB20 and it is supposedly Aston Martin. Team Boss Lawrence Stroll wants to expand his team’s expertise by bringing Adrian Newey to Aston Martin. Aston Martin Boss Lawerence Stroll has been pushing the Formula One scene by taking over Force India and finally bringing back Aston Martin to the grid. The new team is promising with Fernando Alonso on the roaster along with the boss’s son, Lance Stroll. But having the Aston Martin name with a 2-time world champion is not enough for the billionaire so he has decided to bring in a skilled engineer as well.

Rumors of Aston Martin trying to bag Adrian Newey began during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. In the past, Lawerence Stroll mentioned a transformation the Aston Martin F1 team is undergoing in 2024 owing to his $220 million plan. This is being done to help make Fernando Alonso the world champion again. In this approach, there are plans of getting a wind tunnel made and having Newey at the front of designing the car.

Lawrence Stroll is a billionaire with very little time to waste. The meeting he had with Newey in Jeddah, must be business, and the plot thickens. Having Adrian Newey in the team will do justice to the brand Aston Martin which Stroll is at the forefront of. His bold decisions have kept the team alive and dominating the midfield. The way this season looks so far, they might be able to push further. So far, Fernando Alonso’s contract has not been renewed. But things will fall into place with time.

The new infrastructure for the F1 team is something that displays a strong connection with the sport and that Stroll is setting up. Slashing away all questions about his interest in the matter in the first place. Stroll continues to show that he is not in it as a game, and his $220 million plan is what will take things one step ahead.

Previously, Aston Martin relied on Mercedes’ wind tunnel in Brackley, giving them a competitive advantage. However, this dependency is set to change. Aston Martin is gearing up to use its very own wind tunnel, marking a significant departure from its reliance on Mercedes. This shift is part of a broader transformation at Aston Martin’s Silverstone headquarters, which moved into a new factory in 2023.

Aston Martin’s new wind tunnel is expected to be operational by the end of 2024. This development is part of a larger campus that includes new gearbox dynos, displaying the team’s commitment to self-sufficiency. Dan Fallows was interviewed about the advantages of having their wind tunnel.
