SPOTTED: Daniel Ricciardo Takes a Short Break From F1 by Attending the Wimbledon Championships

It seems like Daniel Ricciardo is adjusting to British traditions this year. While the Australian joined a British team in McLaren for this season, he is now in their home country for their home Grand Prix.

Ahead of the British Grand Prix, the 32-year-old decided to attend proceedings at the ongoing Wimbledon Championships.

It seems the United Kingdom is the single most happening place for sports today. While their football team competes in the Euros at Wembley, London also plays host to the Wimbledon Championships this year.

After F1 completed its ninth race of the season, they now come to Silverstone for Round 10. While various drivers are taking time off to relax, Ricciardo attended Wimbledon today to do the same. With the semifinals of the Men’s singles category taking place, the Australian sat alongside football legend Frank Lampard to watch the action unfold at Centre Court.

It’s very rare to see the Honey Badger in a suit given his quirky character in the paddock. However, Ricciardo definitely looks the part at Wimbledon not just adhering to the dress code, but also enjoying his time.

Despite Ricciardo’s struggles this season, he finished an impressive P7 at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend. In addition, despite a terrible Styrian Grand Prix, the Australian scored good points overall in the triple-header which concluded last weekend.

Although his teammate Lando Norris has outperformed him so far, Ricciardo finally looks to be getting stronger at McLaren. The upcoming British Grand Prix could be another litmus test for his season, with the 2022 season bringing in a new era of F1 cars.

In addition, the new sprint qualifying format will be introduced in Silverstone next weekend, which could add another dimension to an F1 race weekend. With so much at stake, Ricciardo needs to rise to the occasion to aid McLaren’s battle with Ferrari this season.
