World No.9, Fabio Fognini will be out of the top 10 ATP rankings on Monday following his defeat as the defending champion in the quarterfinals of the Los Cabos Open against Taylor Fritz.

According to the reports, Fabio Fognini and long-time coach, Franco Davin will also end their partnership at the end of the season. However, the reports suggest that the two will part their ways in good terms after working together for 3 years. The pair have understood that a cycle has been completed and its time to disassociate.

Fabio Fognini conquered 5 titles under the Argentinian coach in the course of three years. The Italian won the title at the Swiss Open 2017, Brasil Open 2018, Bastad Open 2018, Los Cabos Open 2018. However, his best performance came at the Monte Carlo Masters in the 2019 season, where he won his maiden Masters 1000 title. Following the 2019 French Open, Fognini entered into the top 10 ATP singles rankings for the first time in his career.

Franco Davin coached several players before joining Fabio Fognini in November 2016. He coached Gaston Gaudio when he won the 2004 French Open. Davin also partnered with his fellow countryman, Juan Martin Del Potro. Del Potro won his only Grand Slam title at the 2009 US Open under Davin’s tutelage. He also coached Grigor Dimitrov from 2015 to 2016.

Franco Davin is certainly one of the most important coaches on the tour. It is still unsure about whom he will work with after the completion of the 2019 season but he will soon get many choices to continue working. According to reports, Davin received two top proposals last year but he rejected them as he wanted to continue with Fabio Fognini.

Fabio Fognini will face the winner between the Canadian wild card, Brayden Schnur and a Qualifier in the second round of the Canadian Open, which is scheduled to start from 5th August.
