It’s always a momentous notion to play and win in the presence of your native crowd. Federer has won innumerable laurels for Switzerland, but however, every point won on the courts of Basel makes him feel special. “I really enjoyed it. I think I also showed emotions, I was trying to pump myself up”, he said after his quarterfinal victory. “It’s an absolute pleasure playing on home soil with the crowd supporting me so much. I think they felt like I was in danger, and it was nice that they were there every step of the way”.
