Mike Tyson, for those who do not know, was a ferocious boxer, who was renowned for his ability to knock people out with a single punch. The boxing legend, has taken a liking to tennis, after his retirement. He spoke about Roger Federer and how he was very much impressed by his ability to stay on top of the game even in the latter stages of his career. Federer, started his 2018 season on fire, racking up a 17-0 win loss record, which was the best start to a season in his entire career. However, Federer succumbed to two consecutive losses, and decided later on that he would skip the clay court season.
‘It’s fantastic that he plays at this level at this age! His record at the beginning of the year was impressive, unfortunately, he lost two matches in Indian Wells and Miami’, said Mike Tyson. “And now he has stopped (for the clay season). A good decision, I think. He can afford it. He is the greatest of all time.”
Tyson’s daughter, Milan, hit a few balls with Novak Djokovic earlier last month in Indian Wells. ‘She is great,‘ Tyson spoke about Milan. ‘She met Serena Williams, I was so proud of her.” Djokovic has been struggling with his form, since returning from his elbow injury. However, this has not affected Mike Tyson’s appreciation for the former world number one. “He is my favorite at the moment. If he is okay, I really like to watch him. He played some good matches in Monaco now, it doesn’t look so bad. Luckily he recovered after an elbow injury”, said Mike Tyson.
Novak Djokovic is scheduled to play at the Madrid Open next, where he will look to prepare well for his French Open bid. Meanwhile, Federer, is on a long hiatus, and is not expected to show up before the grass court swing begins.
