Alpine skier Lyndsey Vonn and tennis star Roger Federer share a very close friendship. The two have met many times over the years, attending ski races together and/or having fun. Especially during endorsements events like in 2014 for the chocolate producer Lindt.

Vonn admits that she tries to learn as much as possible from the Swiss ace. Back in the day, she used to suffer a lot of injuries. So, she can relate to Federer, who himself was sidelined with a knee injury in 2016.

In a recent interview centred around Federer, Vonn called him an inspiration. Although many critics said that he is much too old to win a Major title, he proved them wrong. He came back and won the title, won quite a few in fact and she did the same thing. The thing is that athletes like Vonn and Federer love what they do.

She said, “Roger likes tennis and working hard, he is a very humble champion instead of some athletes. I want to be like him.”

Vonn added that Roger’s style and the way he plays is graceful to watch. That is what makes it so much fun to watch. When he and Nadal are matched up many times it was a lot of fun. Especially from watching Wimbledon so many times when they are up against each other.

For Lindsey as an athlete, it’s inspiring to watch. When she met him after watching him for so many years, she saw how humble he is. Federer was also quite the philanthropist. Vonn said that those were the kinds of things that she wanted to carry out in her life and career.

As of now, Federer is currently preparing for the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year. Will he make it title number 21? only time will tell.
