Federer says, ‘Nelson Mandela was massive’

The greatest inspiration int he tennis world, Roger Federer unfurled his own greatest inspiration. He says, “Nelson Mandela was massive, my mum being from South Africa, he has done everything for the country.” The ‘Father of the Nation’ for South Africa and the anti-apartheid icon is respected by numerous people all around the globe. In addition to that, in 2011 Federer was the second most respected and trusted individual in the world, besides former South African president. Both the personalities have an emotional connection with the country and donate ample time and money enchantment of the region.

In the year 2013, when Mandela was critical in a Pretoria hospital, Federer spoke about Mandela’s significance in his life. “He’s been very influential, an amazing personality, you know, believed in something, had to pay a big price for it. Someone you can definitely look up to and that’s very important for me. Clearly, there’s many that come and go, but he has been there for a very long time. And he’s very much respected and loved. So we hope he does well here now in this process,” said Federer. He regrets about not having met Mandela. Federer is involved in many charitable activities on the ATP World Tour. The Roger Federer Foundation provides education and sports training in Ethiopia, South Africa, Malawi, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Switzerland.

Besides everything, off the tennis court, Federer being the father of four children. He spoke about his daughters’ understanding of tennis and their father as a tennis player. “They kind of understand other people walk up and like, Hey picture, please. And you are like, “Sure”. And the girls are like, “Quickly”! They kind of understand that. I don’t think I have ever told them exactly why it is’, Federer said. “They know I am a tennis player, I don’t think they know how good I am, once I told them what my ranking was and they were like, Okay. I don’t like to talk too much to them about it too much.”
