Roger Federer is set to face Serena Williams, in their mixed doubles match-up at the Hopman Cup in Perth next week. He will pair up with the Swiss youngster Belinda Bencic, while Serena will be partnering with Frances Tiafoe. Federer has already arrived early in Perth, and is having a fun time off the court exploring and soaking in the sun. Roger Federer has never played against Serena Williams, and Federer thinks that this might just be a one-time thing and will never happen again.

“We’ll probably play it down a little bit and say it’s not that big of a deal for us”, said Roger Federer. “It’s just another tennis match but it really isn’t because it’s probably going to happen once and never again,” said Federer as he spoke to the media in Australia. “That’s why I hope we’re both going to be injury free when that day comes around.”

The Swiss has however, been working hard on his game in the off-season, and has been seen practicing in Dubai. He hopes that 2019 will turn out to be yet another fairy-tale season fo him. “I’ve been very happy with how the off-season went,” said Roger Federer. “The last three or four weeks have been very intense”, he continued, “I’m very excited and motivated for this next season.”

Speaking about his bid for yet another Australian open crown Roger said- “A lot of things need to happen to win any slam. I hope that again it will be the start of a great season for me because the last two seasons have been crazy good for me.”

The Hopman Cup will commence on the 29th of December, and will be Federer’s only warm-up event before he heads off to Melbourne to defend his Australian open crown, in the hope that he will win his 100th career title in style.
