As the Swiss maestro, Roger Federer plans to step on the clay. He looks forward to resuming his career on that surface. Andy Roddick believes the GOAT tennis player must stay away from the arena to in order to dwell longer on the ATP circuit. Roddick says, ‘I’m going to go human shield on this one. He should never play on clay again. It’s really hard on the body. He shouldn’t. Go ahead, say no now’. In the month of June, Federer was to confirm about his presence in the 2019 clay court season once the 2018 US Open is over. However, Federer now postpones the announcement of his decision until the end of the year.

Moreover, Roddick expressed his regard and respect towards the 20-time Grand Slam champion. They have met each other on court for 24 times and the World Number 2 pulled off 21 matches. Federer got an overwhelming introduction from Andy Roddick during the event in Austin. ‘We’ve all made mistakes. The man I’m about to introduce is not one of those people. It would be really hard for me to like someone as much as I do who ruined my life for a decade’, said Roddick.

In addition to that Roddick mentioned about the on and off court behaviour of the Basel native, Federer. He said, “On tour, there were many people who were not as accomplished as Roger and [do] little things like you’re changing your racquet grips, and you leave it on the floor, or there’s a sweaty towel in the training room and you let someone pick it up. Never for a day did he ever do anything like that. He walks into every locker room and knows the names of the attendants, ‘Hi, how are you? You have two children, right?’ Just the human element of what he brought to the table, even with his stature in the game, is something that I always admired from afar.”
