The blockbuster Sunday clash lived up to it’s billing as Roger Federer had to go all the way to defeat the fifth seed Kei Nishikori. After going down 1-5 in the first set, Federer got in his groove and though he missed out on taking the first set he bossed Ninja for the next hour or so, going up 2 sets to 1. In the fourth Kei won a 10 minute game and broke immediately in the next game to take the fourth set against the flow of things.
But Nishikori- who called for a medical timeout in the fifth- was never allowed to get a look in the final set as Roger wrapped up a crucial win to march into the quarters.
Here’s how the twitter reacted to this marathon!

Federer has only won one Slam after his 30th birthday.
Both Murray and Djokovic turn 30 before the French Open.
I'm just sayin'.
