World No.2 Simona Halep got a well-deserved victory over French Open champion Iga Swiatek in the fourth round of the Australian Open 2021. And now the Romanian will play an in-form Serena Williams in the quarterfinals.
In her post-match press conference, she recalled the last time she played Serena. The last time Halep and Serena faced off was at the 2019 Wimbledon final where Halep thrashed Serena in less than an hour. It is an unforgettable memory for Halep.
“The game I think it was one of the best in my life the best day actually of my life I felt very confident back then I felt every ball I felt all the game,” she said.

Furthermore, Halep doesn’t want to cloud herself with those memories and treat the match as a new one. She believes it won’t be the same as the 2019 Wimbledon final and expects a tough challenge against Serena.
“But I’m not different mentally from that day I just think that two matches in a row cannot be the same so I’m just getting ready to face her here.”
