Ferrari aren’t perhaps the happiest team on the grid. This is despite the fact that the Italian racing team stand second on the 2019 Constructor Standings, at the moment. What’s gone wrong isn’t the problem here, truth be told. The only thing, it can be said, at least at this point in time from a Ferrari perspective is actually not concerning Sebastian Vettel or even Charles Leclerc. Well, truth be told, it concerns a certain Mick Schumacher, Michael Schumacher’s son.

So what is it that Ferrari have in store for both fans and pundits?

Well, in a year where Ferrari have failed to secure even a single race win and only 2 podium finishes in 3 Grands Prix, in stark contrast to their 2018 run, where they won the opening two races thanks to a stellar effort by Sebastian Vettel, the team’s shared something bright on future-potential Mick Schumacher.

That said, in what might come across as a rather interesting observation- whether or not one’s a Tifosi- the Mattia Binotto-led side shared that Mick Schumacher’s driving style is pretty similar to his father, Michael Schumacher’s.

In that regard, it’s important to make a note of the key observations made by the Ferrari team principal, Mattia Binotto, who had the following to share about the young German driver, one who had tested the 2019 F1 car post the completion of the Bahrain GP:

“The very first time I saw him after many years in Maranello – when he came back if you looked at him, I don’t think he looks very similar to Michael,” he told Crash.net.

“But the way he’s behaving is very similar and the way he approaches the exercise and the way he’s interested in the car, discussing it with the technicians.

“So even in Maranello, you are looking after him, but he’s always in the workshop looking at the car, speaking with the mechanics, and I think that’s very similar to his father.”

The above told it’s worthwhile to remember that the Switzerland-born Mick Schumacher had joined the Scuderia’s Academy program during the start of this new season. The onus, in the course of the future, it is believed, rests on the youngster’s ability to break into a side that most would still crave to drive for.

But while one can speculate and opine all one wants whether or not Ferrari end up signing Mick Schumacher sometime soon, what is interesting to note is what the team can bring in the remaining 17 races. Mercedes, for sure, would relish another win while Ferrari would fancy their first at Baku, a track where they are yet to relish the feeling of standing at the top step of the podium.
