Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (popularly known as AOC) surprised the world when she inaugurated her Twitch channel. She sent out a tweet asking fans to join her as she streamed one of the most popular games in the world right now: Among Us.

Her tweet sent the entire community into a state of frenzy. The primary reason behind this movement was to motivate young citizens to go out and vote. But her stream became an overnight success because of its authenticity. The fans saw her having fun as they joined in huge numbers.

At its peak, the stream had over 438,000 concurrent viewers, placing it third in a list of streams with the most concurrent viewers.

Those who missed out sent out tweets requesting her for an encore. AOC, as we popularly know her, has no plans of disappointing her fans as she asked everyone to drop “ideas/people for the next stream.”

The Congresswoman has over 721,000 subscribers on her newly minted Twitch channel. She also invited some heavy names to be a part of her stream. These included political streamer Hasan Piker, and popular gaming streamers Pokimane, Myth, Disguised Toast, and DrLupo.

Her experiment was a massive success primarily because she wasn’t seen delivering a speech or sharing her political insights but was seen playing Among Us which, like her stream, has broken a lot of records.

AOC isn’t the first politician to step into this fold. Previously, US Presidential candidate Joe Biden had taken to Animal Crossing: New Horizons to muster support for his campaign.
