This restriction applies to even those players who were called up but did not fly. Carson has been a journeyman in his career. He started off at Leeds and then moved to Liverpool. At Liverpool, he was loaned thrice before settling in at West Brom. Carson made 100 appearances for West Brom and later on had short stints at Busaspor, Wigan, and Derby before joining City. The 36-year-old is unfortunately remembered as the goalkeeper whose mistake cost England a euro qualification. This mistake led to the ex English national player Steve McClaren calling him ?The Wally with the Brolly?.
