Tottenham Hotspur are going in the right direction as they try to find a way back to the UEFA Champions League. The North London club finished seventh last season and will play in the newly created UEFA Conference League, the third-best European tournament after UCL and the Europa League.
This isn’t good enough for a club of Tottenham’s stature, and their chairman, Daniel Levy, is making the moves required to turn the club’s fortunes around. It all starts in the transfer window as Spurs are making some good moves.
Tottenham has signed Bryan Gil from Sevilla, with Érik Lamela joining the Spanish club as part of the deal. Spurs will pay an additional €25m (£21.4m) for the 20-year-old winger. Gil will join the club after the conclusion of Spain’s run at the Tokyo Olympics.

Gil is a winger who played 28 games in La Liga for Eibar (he was signed on a loan of one season from Sevilla). He showed his class with the club as he scored four goals and was routinely Eibar’s best player.
Still only 20, Tottenham would love to have a player of his caliber with them. Gil is incredibly versatile and is naturally a left-footed player who plays on the left-wing. However, he transitioned over to the wing and used his dribbling skills to create chances. Gil also possesses a great shooting technique which helped him score four La Liga goals last season.

However, the big question is still whether Gil can perform in the Premier League. He doesn’t possess incredible strength, and while he is fast, he’s just 5’7”. This might not be a factor if he can utilize and hone the other weapons he has, like his ball control and the ability to turn quickly.
