The Venezuela women’s football team has one prominent star in the team. Atletico Madrid forward, Deyna Castellanos is one of the brightest stars in all of women’s football at the moment.

In 2014, Castellanos was a member of the Venezuelan National Under-17 team that finished fourth in the FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup.

Castellanos was also part of the team that finished fourth in the 2014 women’s Olympic football. She was also the winner of the golden boot of the 2014 Under-17 women’s world cup.

During a recent interview, the Venezuelan star revealed the early stages of her career and how she managed to become a star player despite early resistance.

“My earliest memory playing football and I was beating these boys in soccer boys will get upset all the time. So I knew I was good by looking at their reactions. My mom was obviously like super Brown,” she said.

Since making her debut with the Venezuelan Women’s Senior Football team in 2018, Castellanos has already scored 6 goals for her nation, playing just 10 games.

Notably, Castellanos was nominated for The Best FIFA Football awards in 2017. She was shortlisted for The Women’s Footballer award along with two others.

That nomination created some controversy as Castellanos was yet to play a single game with the Senior national team. USWNT star Megan Rapinoe was particularly outspoken about the nomination, as Castellanos was an unknown player at that time.

Nevertheless, one can not doubt the immense quality the Venezuelan star possesses. She is expected to reach even further heights in the coming days of her career.

So, the expectations from fans and her countrymen are sky high for Castellanos. If she can eventually fulfill them, remains to be seen.
