Now, a brand new trailer has dropped on Youtube and the hype train has gained even more speed.

For the uninitiated, Back in 1966, the two automobile giants shared a bitter rivalry at Le Mans. Back then, Ferrari almost always had the measure of Ford and took top honours. The Italian team triumphed several times, even taking 6 in a row.

But then in 1966 the game changed and Ford came out with their piece de resistance, the GT40 Mark II. The sparks of the rivalry truly began when Ford boldly decided to buy Ferrari. This was largely owing to the Italian marquee’s prominence and their success at Le Mans.

It was worth noting that Ferrari’s CEO, Enzo Ferrari had also shared keen interest in the deal. However, there was one detail in the fine print that made Ferrari do a volte face. Ford wanted control over Ferrari’s racing and automotive division. To say that he was furious would be an understatement.

Left red-faced at the rejection, Henry Ford’s only objective was “Go to Le Mans, and beat Ferrari’s ass.”

Expertly piloted by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon, Ford finally got their revenge and took the first three spots on the podium.
