Former World No. 1 player Rafael Nadal is on top of the world right now. The Spaniard has achieved what no other man in the history of tennis has ever done after he won the Australian Open 2022.

Rafa won his 21st Grand Slam title and became the first man to ever accomplish this feat. His fans around the world were elated by his achievements and watched his heroics in the final against Daniil Medvedev with bated breaths. One such fan was 2020 French Open champion Iga Swiatek.

Rafael Nadal had a superstar fan, Iga Swiatek, in the stands 

The Polish star was sitting amongst the crowd in the Rod Laver Arena. She was caught on television supporting her idol, Nadal. There was a clip that surfaced online in which she expressed her astonishment at an exquisite winner played by the Spaniard

Swiatek came across the clip and joked that her forehead muscles would be sore for a couple of days. She was referring to the match as it was one that will be remembered for the ages. The 20-year-old player spoke on this topic and stated, “My face throughout the whole match… My…forehead muscles will literally be sore for the next two days.”

Reflecting on the match, Medvedev started off the match brilliantly, and it seemed one-sided as he raced to a two-set lead. Within a matter of no time, he was racing towards the finishing line as he had a chance to break Nadal during the business end of the third set.

Then came the turnaround and Rafa clinched the third set. He soon found the momentum and took advantage of it, which helped him seal the fourth set in his favor as well.

He sensed that the match was for him to lose at this point and, being the fighter that he, the 35-year-old won the final set and thus became the winner of 21 Majors. We wish him the best for the 2022 season.
