Ex Liverpool player Steven Gerrard will relinquish his role as Liverpool Under-18s manager. Instead, he will join the Rangers in a managerial role on a four-year contract.

The former England and Liverpool captain won nine honours as a player. Now, he is looking forward to adding more silverware, this time for the Rangers.

They still have 3 matches remaining, against Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Hibernian respectively. However, Gerrard will be absent from the dugout until the summer.

Rangers are currently third in the Scottish Premiership, 13 points behind champions Celtic. Dave King, Rangers chairman believes that Gerrard is the right man to turn the club’s fortunes around.

Gerrard will be joined by Gary McAllister who will be fulfilling the role of an assistant. Now, the race is on to find someone who can take over the role of manager of the Liverpool U-18 team.

Previously, it was Gerrard who was filling up that role. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was initially sad to see a player/manager of his calibre go, but was happy for the Englishman nonetheless.
