Doctors then soon confirmed that Hayden had suffered severe brain damage and was in a very critical condition. Hayden was doing bicycle training on the Rimini coastline when the unfortunate incident occurred. He succumbed to his injuries on Monday, the 22nd of May.

Hayden was in Italy training after his World Superbike Championship race at Imola. He made appearances in MotoGP as recent as last year when he replaced an injured Dani Pedrosa on one of the factory Hondas.

It is a great loss for the motorsport community to lose a World Champion in this way. All our prayers are with Hayden’s family.
