Fortnite 16.40 Update to Introduce a New Location, New Weapons, New Skin, and More

Epic Games is going to roll out patch 16.40 to Fortnite in just a few more hours. The upcoming update comes with a lot of mystery, and Epic made sure to tease it all over the internet. However, the highlight of the update is definitely going to be a much-awaited skin and its own point of interest.
According to the minimal patch notes available to players, Epic announced that it would be vaulting the double-barrel shotgun. To replace the dub, Fortnite players will get an exotic version of the six-shooter. This seems like a highly unnecessary change, as players have never enjoyed the latter. Hopefully, the exotic version of the weapon makes it more fun to use.
Other minor updates in the patch notes also mention the arrival of new summer themes in creative mode. Moreover, players will also get another Wild Week starting May 13 that players can enjoy with the latest update.

Fortnite female Oro skin arrives with her own island
One of the most exciting teasers Epic Games posted on its Twitter account was probably a hint towards the female Oro skin. The developers strengthened this hint while announcing the downtime for the upcoming update. “Your offering will be applAUded,” wrote Epic, while carefully capitalizing the letters ‘A’ and ‘U’.

AU is the chemical symbol for Aurum or gold, and it could only hint towards the much-awaited Oro skin. As the skin finally arrives, fans also expect it to have three skin styles, similar to the male Oro skin, which arrived in Fortnite previously.
Popular Fortnite Leaker HYPEX recently posted an image of a suspicious new location right under Flush Factory. YouTubers and other sleuths believe that this might be female Oro’s island. The island might have female Oro as an NPC who would also have interesting rewards.

According to HYPEX, players can get the gold Lara Croft skin by picking up Oro’s golden scar on her island. The popular leaker also included many other minor additions and balances coming to Fortnite with patch 16.40.

The patch might also include the NBA skins and emotes, which are currently encrypted in the game files. However, the arrival of these skins is not as certain as female Oro finally coming to the game. The update downtime begins at 4 AM ET on May 11.
