Fortnite is one of the most played battle royale games in the world. With over 350 million users, it has dominated the BR genre like no other for quite some time now. One of the reasons for its popularity is that the game offers a lot more than just high-intensity build battles and gunfights. Adding to its long list of features, Epic Games is now integrating the Houseparty video-chat app into the game.

Houseparty is Fortnite’s latest communication app

As reported by Techradar, the game will allow players to video chat with people in their squad during games. This will enhance the gameplay experience and will add a fun element to the game. Epic Games acquired Houseparty in June 2019. It already had plans of moving into gaming, and this might just be its big break.

For starters, players will need to have the Houseparty app integrated into the game. Although, the process of setting up the system is a little complex. To use this feature, players will need to have the Houseparty app on their iOS and Android devices. Once done, the Houseparty account and the Epic Games account will need to be linked.

Once this is done, players have to open the Houseparty app, go to settings, and connect to Fortnite. This process can be completed after booting up Fortnite, and once the entire squad does this, players can then enjoy the game while video chatting on their Houseparty app.

On the down side, there is no way for the Houseparty app to show up on the desktop while playing the game, yet. It does have a chrome extension, but players will have to switch to the browser constantly to chat, which routs the purpose completely. Talking on the mobile device would be the easiest, and it’ll also provide a great communication experience.

FAQ’s about Houseparty integration with Fortnite

In addition to this, Techradar also answered questions about its safety features, parental control guidelines, and more. Take a look at it below:

Has Fortnite video chat got any safety features?

Yes, for a start, Fortnite video chat crops the video so that it only shows the players’ faces – with a Fortnite virtual background. For concerned parents, you can turn off Fortnite video chat through the game’s Parental Controls. Fortnite video chat should only be used for those aged 13 and up, as you need to be at least 13 to create a Houseparty account.

Only your Houseparty friends or the friends of those in your Houseparty room can join your video chat. Only those in your Houseparty room can see your video chat – this still applies when you open Fortnite.  However, if someone in the room chooses to stream the video chat then others will see it too.

You can report or block someone in Houseparty. To report someone in Houseparty, select their name from your Friend list, select Settings, and then choose either block or report. You also have the choice to unfriend someone or to lock your room to keep unwanted people from joining.

Fortnite will definitely be more fun with this feature, and it will hopefully add more games to this in the future.
