Ever since its release, Fortnite battle royale has reigned supreme in the BR genre. With games like PUBG, H1Z1, Apex Legends as competition, Fortnite surpassed them all. The level of influence this game holds over the gaming world is tremendous. There are several reasons behind it, but can it be overtaken by a game like Call of Duty Warzone?

To get down to it straight, we have to discuss the most discerning possibilities. Firstly, the popularity of both games is based on certain criteria. For instance, the age segregation for both these games is quite varied. Fortnite appeals to the younger age group much more than adults in their mid 20’s.

Nevertheless, when it comes to the competitive nature of the game and complex keybinds, both Fortnite and Warzone go head to head. Fortnite is a building game in a BR format, and Warzone is COD’s finest ever aggressive push-play. Perhaps, when we think of criteria, we also have to keep hackers in mind.

With a comprehensive video from Nickmercs, we now know what are the aspects that set these two games apart.

Fortnite or Warzone, which is the better BR?

In both games, there is no W-key-spam victory; it is not easy to survive, and one has to be quick on their feet. When it comes to gunplay, the POV matters. Fortnite operates with TPP (third-person perspective), whereas, Warzone is FPP.

This means that Warzone requires more precision in its gunfights. The community likes a firefight more in Warzone than Fortnite. COD is known for its gun mechanics and there is no comparison there. However, on the flipside, Epic Games have a healthier regulation of hackers.

Both COD and Fortnite have a reboot mechanic but Warzone is leagues ahead here. With the Gulag mechanic, Warzone literally challenges players to earn their freedom. Rather than just picking up a reboot card, players have to fight it out to return to the match.

Dropping at a spot and loadout are two concepts where these games differ too. In Fortnite, one has to hunt for loot and farm material to build actively. In Warzone, there is a specific loadout available. Nevertheless, one has to search for better weapons. Both games have chests, the loot pool is diverse for Fortnite but restricted for Warzone.

Reviving and healing these are also different in these games, especially since Warzone has a self-res feature. This allows players to revive on their own while their teammates take the fight. In Fortnite, one has to first build a shelter and then revive the teammate in order to not get shot.

Fortnite’s storm does much less damage than Warzone’s circle. This is the primary reason why it is prevalent for players to stay outside the zone in Fortnite. Sometimes, they take advantage of this by playing floppers.

Warzone’s zone hits hard and hits the same damage every time it shrinks. This makes the endgame an interesting scenario. For Warzone, the endgame is a deadly aggressive phenomenon, where gunfights are unavoidable. For Fortnite, one can usually play smart and avoid a fight, but not in tourneys.

With vehicles and rotations, the skill gap between the two games can be spotted easily. With the building aspect, Fortnite trumps ahead, but with vehicles, airstrikes, and other elements, Warzone takes the edge.

This, in turn, also shows us how the pacing of these games is different. Warzone is perhaps one of the fastest-paced games in the world, whereas the pacing in Fortnite seems normal. Perspective also matters here as FPP is not as easy as TPP.
