Fortnite is known for adding some of the most popular characters and items in its game with the help of collaborations. Over the last few months, players have seen countless characters from celebrated media IPs like Marvel, DC, Star Wars, and many more on the Island. But the title’s latest collaboration might take the cake for the most unexpected crossover ever.

The game recently announced the addition of Kelsier, The Survivor of Hathsin from Brandon Sanderson’s critically and commercially acclaimed fantasy novel series, Mistborn. Along with some epic skins, the collection will offer other cosmetics as well.

Kelsier to join Fortnite as part of Mistborn collaboration

The rumors of a Mistborn collaboration grew a lot yesterday after the game tweeted a quote from one of the books. The quote was meant for Kelsier, who is one of the most integral characters in the novels. The rumors were finally confirmed after the author of the series, Brandon Sanderson confirmed it with a Reddit post.

“Well, it’s finally out! Yes, we’re doing Kelsier in Fortnite.”

Sanderson also talked about some of the other details of the collaboration with Fortnite. He mentioned that this partnership began after his friend Donald Mustard, who is the Chief Creative Officer at Epic Games, asked him about adding Kelsier to the game.

“Well, Donald Mustard (director of Fortnite) is a friend of mine. We worked on Infinity Blade together back in the day. So, he asked if I was interested in sticking Kelsier into the game–and I thought it was cool.”

Along with that, Sanderson also confirmed that there won’t be any gigantic event like the DC or Marvel crossover with the Mistborn series. But he said that fans can look out for more items from the franchise to join the game soon. So maybe the game might add other characters like Vin, Dockson, or even Ham soon.

“They’ll release more, but don’t expect a huge crossover event.”

The Kelsier Collection

In the series, Kelsier is a Mistborn, who gains powers by burning and using powdered metals. He’s also a thief who wants to take down an empire with the help of his Rebels. In the game, Kelsier comes in two different outfits, with one being his masked, full-sleeved undercover style variant. Along with that, the collection includes the Volcanic Glass Daggers Pickaxe, the Hemalurgic Spikes Back Bling, and a Kelsier-themed Loading Screen. Players can buy these items now from the Fortnite Item Shop.

It’s extremely cool to see a friendship blossom into a cool collaboration like this. Fans can expect to see more characters and items arrive in the game as part of the partnership. In the end, it remains to be seen if Fortnite and Sanderson reconsider their plans by integrating these characters into the main storyline.
