As the tennis world freezes themselves to their screens to witness the masterpieces of the sport brawling to reserve a spot for themselves in the Roland-Garros 2019 final. As the first four men of the sport occupy Court Philippe-Chatrier from noon until the evening, the semifinal matches for the WTA women were scheduled on Court Suzanne-Lenglen and Court Simonne Mathieu of French Open 2019.
The rain on Wednesday halted the scheduled play, which led to rescheduling the match timetable for the remaining days of the French Open 2019. The last four round matches of the ladies did not take place on Court Philippe-Chatrier as both semifinals of the men’s game are taking place back-to-back. The WTA’s CEO was annoyed with the Roland-Garros organising team for not scheduling ladies semifinal matches on the main court.
“There’s no doubt that scheduling has been challenged by weather conditions and the WTA understands the scheduling issues presented at Roland Garros,” as mentioned by Steve Simon. “We are, however, extremely disappointed by the scheduling of both women’s semi-finals on outside courts”.

Steve Simon believes that alternative planning should have been figured out. The four ladies, Johanna Konta, Ashleigh Barty and the teenagers, Amanda Anisimova and Marketa Vondrousova have played quality tennis for two weeks and they deserve to play on a privileged arena for a semifinal match of Grand Slam tournament.

“This decision is unfair and inappropriate. The four women who have played so well and made it this far have earned their right to play on the biggest stage. We believe other solutions were possible which would have been to the benefit of fans as well as players,” the WTA CEO continued.
The 17-year-old, Amanda Anisimova dethroned the reigning champion, Simona Halep from the tournament and she was delighted to be in the semifinals and cheerfully accepted to play on Court Suzanne-Lenglen for her semifinal match against the eight seed, Barty. “It doesn’t really matter,” Anisimova said. “They’re all beautiful courts. Whatever court they put me on to play in, I’m going to be happy. They are all amazing courts.” Anisimova lost to Barty in the semifinals.

The finalist at Roland-Garros, Barty also spoke about it, she said, “obviously we would love to play on Chatrier. For me, personally, I’m excited to be in a semifinal. It doesn’t really matter which court I play on. I’m in a semi-final. I’m going to be ready to play. Yes, of course, we would have loved to play on Chatrier. It’s a beautiful court. But in saying that, all four of us will be ready and prepared and go out there and enjoy it.”
