Serena Williams is making her comeback to a Grand Slam with the ongoing French Open after being absent for more than an year. The last she played a Grand Slam was the 2017 Australian Open, which was her 23rd Grand Slam feat. Post that, she gave birth to her baby girl, Olympia, in September.

She’s already won her first match of the tournament. But its more than just Tennis that made headlines for her during the match. Her attire, dubbed as ‘catwoman costume’ also attracted a lot of attention, something she said made her feel more like a ‘superhero’.

Former World Number 1, Novak Djokovic, who is himself trying to make a comeback to winning ways at the French Open, expressed his delight that Serena was returning to winning ways and enjoying her Tennis.

“I love Serena,” Djokovic said.

“I mean, you know, all the superlatives and beautiful words that you can think of, you know, she deserves it.

“Especially now, I mean, after she gave birth to Olympia.

“And after all she has achieved in sport to see her back and, you know, putting hours on the court and work and again and again, it’s impressive.

“It’s inspiring. It really is.

“I do have a really nice relationship with her, and we – there is actually, I don’t know if you know, but there is one day difference between my daughter and her daughter. Yeah.

“So we have texted a lot in the process.

“I felt really close to her. All I can say is I love her, and I wish her all the best.”

Serena Williams has also paired with Venus Williams in the French Open for women’s doubles. She’s won the first round of the doubles event as well.
