The tennis pair, Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina reached the pre-quarterfinals and third round of the French Open 2019 respectively. The Frenchman conceded a defeat to Dominic Thiem in straight sets and before that, he did not drop a set in the tournament. The Ukrainian ninth seed lost to the former French Open champion, Garbine Muguruza.

Besides their defeats in the Paris major, the couple, Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina have sadly ended their relationship. They have deactivated their Instagram account called ‘G.E.M.S.Life ’ and they are no longer following each other on social media.

Last month the duo, Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina announced about engaging in a documentary film and the works related to it had already begun. Apart from that, they denote $100 to the Odessa Children’s Hospital in Ukraine for every single ace they hit during their matches.

The 32-year-old, Gael Monfils was dejected with his loss in Paris and the 14th seed was the last Frenchman to leave the draw, but nevertheless, Monfils dreams big. “I’m disappointed. We have to continue working and the goals are super high,” Gael Monfils said.

After her Paris loss, Elina Svitolina is preparing to be fit for the grass-court major, Wimbledon. “The hours after being knocked out of a Grand Slam are not the moments to make rash decisions. But I’ve been managing a knee injury for a while and against Garbine it felt the same,” she said.

“So maybe I will need an MRI scan on my knee next week and see what is the best option going into the grass-court season. Of course there is a concern I might not play on the grass at all if a scan shows something really serious. But, feeling how I feel now, I think I will have enough time to recover for Wimbledon”.

Recently, she took care of the knee surgery expenses of a 16-year-old tennis player from Ukraine, Daria Lopatetska. She paid the amount €12, 000 and bore all the expenses for her knee surgery with took place in Italy and the operation turned out to be successful.
