Given the success of 2022 Game of The Year, Elden Ring, it’s no surprise that fans want a DLC. And since the announcement of Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, the anticipation has been unlike what most games can hope for. Many rumors had pointed towards the game’s DLC coming sometime this year. Now a cryptic update suggests it could come soon.

Going by a recent Steam update, fans believe FromSoftware has made a secret move that has been pointed out on social media. This, in turn, has caught the attention of the gaming community, and the excitement has never been more.

Is Shadow of The Erdtree coming soon?

A Tweet by the YouTuber, Ziostorm, attracted massive attention from Elden Ring fans. The post on the X showcased a new DLC package that has been added to the files of the game. Backed by visuals, the user explicitly states, “I’m not saying it’s 100% Shadow of the Erdtree but… There’s a pretty good chance it is.”

Although this does not confirm anything officially, it has started to spark rumors among fans. The DLC package was uploaded to the Steam Database. Its last recorded update was made on January 16, 2024. The fans in the comment section looked utterly pleased with the news.

This package was uploaded alongside the Elden Ring EU Pre-Purchase DLC Bundle, Artbook & Original Soundtrack, Bonus Gesture, and Adventure Guide. However, it doesn’t hint at being updates to Shadow of The Erdtree. However, the chances of it being the DLC talked about is probable. The DLC was first announced in February 2023 as, “currently in development.” 

Another reason that suggests this is Shadow of Erdtree is this: FromSoftware typically releases DLC for games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne within 6 months to a year after the initial game launch. Now, while they passed that ‘traditional timeline’ for Elden Ring, it would be strange to see a different DLC out of nowhere after telling fans that Shadow of The Erdtree is the DLC that’s on its way.

With the recent steam update, fans are now convinced that the DLC is coming very soon.

One fan predicted February 25 as the day fans finally get Shadow of The Erdtree.

While the update doesn’t specify Shadow of The Edrtree, fans are holding out hope that it is the one.

This user is hoping to have the DLC during March holidays.

While some reactions were more subtle, this user stated, “literally on my knees,” hoping to get the DLC soon.

This user stated, “My body is ready.” Could this be a nod to FromSoftware? After all, their games are the furthest from easy and are only for the skilled players.

While it is unknown when the DLC will be out and if it will be Shadow of the Eldtree, all signs point to it. Surely the devs will soon confirm this.
